Can I request deposit before buyer to pick up the item?
In the listing, I only mentioned pickup no later than a date. Buyer made the offer and I accepted right after a few mins the auction started. But buyer proposed to pick up the item 2 days before my deadline with cash on collection.
Initially I agreed. After awhile, I noticed the buyer has 4 negative feedbacks about no show after winning other auctions. I got a bit worried then asked the buyer if they could make a small deposit to secure the item but did not get reply. I wonder if I can cancel the trade with the current buyer then relist the item? The negative feedbacks are making me a bit nervous.
Thanks

S Community SuperuserEditedKia Ora Kyle,If you are not feeling comfortable with the Trade by all means you can cancel it and relist the item However before you do...
- How long ago was the purchase made?
- When did you request part payment?
- What is the Buyer's overall feedback status?
- How many days away are you from the initial agreement made with your Buyer to pick the item up?
If you are only a couple of days out from the initial pick up agreement and your Buyer's overall feedback status is good it may pay to give them the benefit of the doubt here otherwise you are likely to receive a negative feedback yourself by cancelling the Trade outright after already having initially agreed to the terms. - TradeMe do allow Trades to be completed within 1 week of purchase - you have agreed to a shorter timeframe & you will have the correspondence to show this should you cancel the Trade on a no show. You are Best to add to your Listing Description Or in a Seller's comment if you would like payment or partial payment before Pick up as this then forms part of the contract of purchase upfront for the Buyer - Cheers.1
