Is there any way to keep the desktop site on my mobile phone ?

Dave, if you don't like the app just uninstall it. Then, when you click a link to go to Trademe it will go to your browser instead.

Thanks , but ive already tried that many times , but it still reverts to the mobile app site , installed or not makes no difference

Ah, I see. I don't know any way to force the desktop site on a mobile device rather than the mobile site without writing a userscript and extension. Easy on a desktop computer, but not a mobile device, although some desktop pages are just not available so they force to the mobile site. You could try using bidbud if you prefer the plainer interface.

Hi Dave, I dont use the app, and on the bottom of nearly every type of Trademe page - maybe with the app too I dont know, in small letters under the coloured line at the bottom there's a link to the desktop site. You often have to switch back, and you cant use it

Oops....with every page type, but it's still pretty good. They keep asking you what you think of the "new" app actually - which you can ignore - they appear to have been totally ignoring all the negative feedback since it was launched. Hope it works for you if you still haven't found another solution!
