Extending and close time/date during bidding

Hi there,
Yesterday i was bidding on an item and the close time was extended several times. I was the highest bidder when the tie was extended and another bidder came in. This happened 3 or 4 times, the item went to another bidder. it this normal behviour ?

Gary-NZStocked Community SuperuserEditedYes Gary, it's called auto-extend. If a bid is placed inside the last 2 minutes of the auction about to close, 2 minutes is added on to the close time. You often see auctions going 10-30 mins or more passed their scheduled closing time.

We have found a bid extended to three minutes past the initial auction close time. This seems wrong.
