Accepting an offer before an auction has reached its closing date and time
AnsweredI've got an auction running, the reserve has been met and someone's made an offer. The auction doesn't end until next Thursday. Can I accept this offer now or do I have to let the auction run (ie, wait until the closing time has been reached)?

Tony, you can only accept an offer made through the Trademe Make an offer system when the listing is running. When you accept the offer, the listing will close. Once it's closed, make an offer is no longer available.

Whoops, just noticed you said reserve has been met, in which case the make an offer system should not be available. If the offer you mention is just a question on the auction, then again, nothing can be arranged now reserve has been met and you must let the auction run till close time, unless it's the top bidder that has made an offer, but you would need to remove bids to be able to add a Buy Now for the offer.

Many thanks for this Gary. I just want to do the right thing. The guy who made the offer came and drove the car and was very keen. I hadn't set "Make an offer" and so I guessed I'd have to let it run to be fair to offers. I'll message him and if he then chooses to withdraw his offer then so be it.

(Should be "to be fair to others" not "offers")
