Edit listing to advise buyers that the item is sold
AnsweredHad an item on Classified ads - buyer collected the item and paid cash - before the expiry of the advertisement, I tried to edit the listing to advise other watchers that the item had been sold - system asked if I had sold or if it was unsold - ticked sold and filled in the amount - no other way to complete the edit so all I could do was to withdraw it.
Surely there is a better way to conclude/finalise an advertisement?

Hi Don. With a classified you do indeed withdraw it when sold. But make sure it's 100% sold. Item gone, money in the bank, buyer happy. Some people even like to keep it up for a few extra days just in case the buyer finds a drastic problem with the item and it needs to be returned.
Because once you withdraw a classified that's it. It's gone for good. No going back. You have to rewrite the whole thing and pay again to relist it.

Hi Peter. That's exactly why you should never sell an item listed as an auction outside of Trade Me like you have done here. It's a very strict rule on Trade Me. You have just found out why.
You are now going to have to apologise profusely to the correct buyer who hit that buy now. If they decide to give you negative feedback because of what you have done, then you are going to have to wear that I'm afraid.
