Hi Erika. DON'T send the item BEFORE you have payment.
If the buyer paid using Trademe online system, you will be notified of a payment and the email from Tradme will ask you to send the item.
If they are paying by internet banking, you just need to check bank in the morning and send when you have payment.
Buyers can use Buy Now but they only have to pay straight away if you ONLY accept online payment via Ping. If you have internet banking or other means for payment in your auction, the buyer can use Buy Now and pay when they like, within Trademe's guidelines. Hope that helps.

No do not send until the payment has cleared in your account, except if it is paid by Ping or After pay.

Thank you guys! Just as well always pay to ask silly question when you don't know 😊

Good one Erika. Not sure why my comment took 11 hours to show, but it seemed to get stuck on Pending for all that time.

That's ok! Also how long do you expect payment to come in after buyer have pressed buy now? A week?
Sorry about all the questions0 -

I usually give 3 days before i email a first reminder and overall if nothing in 2 weeks after several reminders and feedback to prompt, i ask tm for a fee refund.

I sold an item using "Make an offer".
Now the buyer says he will only pay cash at pickup as he says he isn't convinced he should pay before "physically" seeing the item. My auction clearly stated Ping or Bank Transfer for payment. What should I do?

It's up to you, and how badly you want to sell the item. By the rules, the buyer should have asked beforehand if you would accept cash on pickup rather than after they have already accepted your offer based on what was written in the listing. It's not usual to change T & C AFTER the buyer has already agreed on what was in the listing. You have to decide what's right for you. Just be careful as it's a common ploy to lowball the price eg buyer turns up with $90 cash when auction win was for $100, in which case, point them to the nearest ATM so they can get the correct money.

Thanks for your reply.
The buyer kept asking to see the couch I was selling, I politely told them that we prefer not to have pre-purchase inspection (which I think I am entitled to).
I also said to them it is their choice to buy without inspecting and I gave them every information possible to ensure I correctly represent the couch (measurements, colour, material, comfort level, details about the store I bought it from, month and year of purchase).
They then decided to make the purchase (without seeing it) and now they're saying "I don't want to pay upfront for something I haven't seen in person"......I think this violates TradeMe Sale/Purchase agreement?!
