A buyer who wishes to change the method of payment after the auction has finished.
AnsweredWe sold an item recently and stated quite clearly prior to the auction that the money ( we are talking around $50 as it transpired ) would need to be put in our account - bank numbers given to the buyer now 5 days ago - before the item could be picked up. Now suddenly it seems ...'incredibly dodgy'... to him that we will, now not advance the process until he accepts the terms we stipulated at the beginning of this 'episode'. We do not wish to prolong this process at all, but usually when you engage in an auction process, you accept all relevant terms as stated, when you take part, surely????

Absolutely. Just email him stating that the payment terms were clearly stated in the auction and by placing his bid, he agreed to abide by those terms. If he is not prepared to complete the trade in accordance with your terms, you will cancel the trade and place the appropriate feedback.
Incidentally, what is the buyers feedback rating like? He might be using this as an excuse not to complete the trade or wanting to bargain you down upon pick up.
My only other comment is that I can’t see your feedback rating so I don’t know how many trades you have completed. If you’re a new seller, he might just be cautious trading with someone with no feedback.2 -

Yes some traders do like to view an item before payment if it is a pick-up item. Especially if they are new to Trade Me. However if you have clearly stated that payment must be made prior to collection, in the auction description, not the payment instructions after they buy it, then they have to go with that.
