Share phone number with the winning buyer/seller automatically

Hi Trade Me Product Team,

I would like to share a suggestion regarding communication between buyers and sellers after an auction finishes.

Currently, when an auction closes, Trade Me automatically sends the email addresses of both parties to help them arrange payment and delivery/pick-up. However, phone numbers are not included, even though users already have verified contact numbers registered with Trade Me.

The Problem: In many everyday trades—especially for local pick-ups or bulky items—email communication can be slow or easily missed. Buyers and sellers often send an initial email to ask for each other’s phone numbers so they can text or call to coordinate timing. This adds unnecessary delay to completing the trade.

Suggested Improvement: It would be very helpful to give users an optional setting (e.g., a checkbox or toggle in account settings/listing setup) such as:

• "Share my phone number with the winning buyer/seller upon trade completion."

If enabled by both or either party, the contact phone number could be included in the automated "Auction Won" / "Item Sold" confirmation emails.

This would keep default privacy intact for those who prefer email-only communication, while streamlining the trade process for users who prefer quick phone or SMS coordination.
