Buyer decided to return the item after a week and half of receiving it
hello. I’ve had this customer bought a vintage bag from me on dec 16 and she received item on the 18th. Before she bought the bag, she asked for proof of purchase and i said i couldn’t provide as it was purchased long time ago but I can get it authenticated by a third party called legitgrails and she was ok with it. The next morning I have emailed her authentication from legitgrails including certificate of authenticity. And just after a week and a half of receiving it, she claims that the bag was fake and wants a refund. Told her I can only refund her if she can provide proof on her end that bag was fake and she was claiming that she used to work for gucci before so she is allowed to do assessment on this matter. I think this is just not fair giving assessments based on her own assumptions, and now she’s emailed me that shes going to raise this up with trade me. What i think has happened here is she is just changing her mind and using the ‘fake’ game to return the bag. Which in fact i have paid extra to get the bag authenticated. I
have also disclosed everything about the bag including imperfections so I don't see any reasons why she’s hard pressed on that it wasn’t as described. I am happy to do refund as long as she can provide a verifiable authentication that bag is fake.
How do you deal with this kind of customer? Looks like she has used the bag to a party or something and decided she didn’t want it afterwards.

Hello Jenny. Considering you have got an authentication report you could just let the buyer go to Trade Me and then it will be in their court to sort it all out. No guarantee which way Trade Me will go on it of course, and that could take quite a while.
The alternative would be to avoid all that, refund the buyer once she has returned it and relist it. Especially if you think there will be no problem reselling it for a price you are happy with Sometimes this is just easier than dragging things through the "system" even if you think you are correct.
