buyer wants to return the item - refund first or after item is returned?
Answeredhello,
having bit of a dilemma with a recent sale. was selling a designer brand that i purchased from an authorised reseller in the united states, buyer received item and wants a refund as she thinks it might not be authentic. i'm not really fussed on the details as i have original receipts from the original store, and could be a year/make/production difference or whatever she noticed.
she wants to return item, which i have agreed, however she is adamant she wants me to refund her before she sends the item back first. how should i approach this?

Just remind the buyer that the usual thing to do is to return the item, then refund. Even with retail shops they need you to return the item before they refund.

Absolutely not, they need to return the item for a refund. Period.
Just be aware though that if they pay for a courier or post it back to, if you are "In Trade" you will be expected to pay the shipping costs. If you are not 'In Trade" you should still pay the return costs, but there is a bit of lee-way, if they are prepared to split it.
Don't not refund without the item, you run the risk of having no bag and no money.
Personally we gave up trying to sell designer goods on Trade Me long ago, for this very reason, and other incidents. (We went as far once as reaching out to Micheal Kors to verify an item once, its simply not worth the effort to satisfy people who are not prepared to be satisfied).
