Refine search by engine size in Trade Me Motors
Often when looking for cars, i try to refine the search by engine size and this has often proved unreliabled.
For example, Mazda Cx-5 come in 2L (1.997cc) and 2.5L (2.488cc) engines size. Your options are to choose every 500cc
So if i look for a 2.5L and i only choose 2.5L to 2.5L, i'll be missing a bunch of them as some sellers put the true cc of 2.488 size and some round up.
If i search for 2L to 2.5L , i get a whole lot of 2 L engines and need to refine through all of those, and there are hundreds of them. And this is just an example with one car, but i had this happening quite often with other models too.
The refinement tool should be more accurate and helpful, i recommend TradeMe its time to make it jump every 250cc and not every 500cc, or else this refinement tool is a ineficient a good percentage of the time.

Gary-NZStocked Community SuperuserPeter, not sure if you are aware, but you can further refine results by searching within your results eg in your example of Used Mazda CX-5 chosen in the main browse, then setting engine size in refine to 2.0 - 2.5 you get 803 results. If you then add a search term in the main search box for "2.5" OR "2500" NOT "20S" you get results whittled down to 141 which is a more manageable number which you can then refine by other options and sort etc. This seems to capture the ones that specify 2488 too but returns none with 2L.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I am aware of that, but even 141 vehicles, out of which only about 10 are the 2.5L is time-consuming to find and no other refinement options would help (eg fuel, door numbers, year, kms, etc). A more precise cc refinment will just help save so much time for me and assuming many others out there, while also helping find more precise results.

Not sure I quite understand Peter when you say only 10 out of the 141 are actually 2.5L? I counted 140 out of the 141 in my search results as being 2.5L, or am I missing something?
