How Book a Courier works
Here’s what happens when you use Book a Courier.
- Tell us about your package. You’ll share details like its size and where it's going.
- See prices. We show you prices from different delivery companies. We base these prices on where they will pick up your package.
- Choose and pay. You pick the best option for you and pay with your Trade Me account.
- Get ready for pick-up. Write the tracking number on your package. Then, leave it outside your door for the courier to get. You don't even need to be home when they pick it up!
- Your item gets delivered. Our delivery companies pick up and deliver your package.

Parcel size limits
Our courier partners have rules about how big your package can be. Look at the diagram below for the largest sizes allowed.

Shipping price estimates
We show you estimated prices. The final prices are based on:
- the delivery address (you can’t use PO boxes for delivery)
- your package size
- your package weight
- the courier’s availability on the day you choose for pick-up.

How to package your item
Make sure your item is securely wrapped so it won't get damaged in transit. You don't need to use a postage-included bag.
Pack carefully
Always pack fragile items with extra protection. Writing fragile on the package doesn’t mean that it will be treated any differently.
Pick-up and delivery locations
- You can’t send items to PO boxes using Book a Courier.
- Aramex doesn’t pick-up from rural addresses.
Organise a courier as a buyer
As a buyer, you might want to arrange a courier for your purchase. Before you do, make sure to talk to the seller. Ask them for the pickup address and confirm that they are okay with you sending a courier.
Make a booking
Book a courier isn't available for all listings
If it's not available, manually add shipping prices when you create the listing. You can still check prices and ship the items with Book a courier using the ‘Something else I want to send’ option.

To book a courier on Trade Me:
- Log in to trademe.co.nz on your browser (Book a Courier isn’t available in the iOS app or Android app).
- Go to My Trade Me.
- Select Book a Courier from the left-side menu.
- Select Get started.
- Choose if you’re sending an item you sold on Trade Me or something else.
- Enter details about the package dimensions and pick-up and delivery details.
- Select a courier service.
- Select Book your courier.
Manage bookings
To view your Book a Courier bookings:
- Log in to trademe.co.nz on your browser (Book a Courier isn’t available in the iOS app or Android app).
- Go to My Trade Me.
- Select Manage bookings from the left-side menu.
- Select View booking to see a summary of your details or Track booking to see it’s status on the courier company’s website.
Need to make a change?
If you need to make a change, you'll need to cancel your booking and create a new one.

To cancel your Book a Courier booking:
- Contact the courier company directly first.

NZ Post - +64 9 977 0102 - Send us a message about the cancellation so we can refund the fee.
Book a Courier refunds will go back to your Trade Me balance.
If the courier doesn't pick-up your package
If the courier doesn't pick up your package as planned, contact the courier company directly to set up a new pick up time.
You might need to cancel your current Book a Courier booking.
