Follow these guidelines when adding photos and videos to your Marketplace listing.

 

Using photo and video in your listings

Photos and videos can help sell your item to potential buyers, but it’s important they accurately represent the item you’re selling.

If you don’t follow the guidelines below, we may:

  • remove the photos or videos from the listing
  • hide the listing from search results until the images comply.

Photo and video guidelines 

Use these guidelines to make sure your photos and videos comply with Trade Me rules for Marketplace listings. This policy is specifically for in-trade sellers, but it’s a good guide for casual sellers too.

Yes

  • Green tick Large, clear images of the item for sale.
    Green tick Small, transparent watermarks (ownership or attribution only) – up to 5% of image area, at least 50% transparency.
  • Green tick Photos clearly show any product flaws or defects.
  • Green tick Other items in the photo are only there to help the buyer.
  • Green tick Videos comply with the Marketplace video terms and conditions (video available to Top Sellers and Stores only).
  • Green tick Images you own, or have permission from the owner to use.

 

 No

  • Red cross Main photo doesn't show the item for sale.
  • Red cross Watermarks, logos, artwork, photo borders or text conveying messages (e.g. low stock availability or other marketing).
  • Red cross Watermarks/logos larger than 5% of image area, or less than 50% transparency.
  • Red cross Contact details, website addresses or any other branded marketing.
  • Red cross Images that breach Intellectual Property Rights (e.g. images found online).
