Top up Trade Me account

How to top up, check your transactions, and ways you can pay.

Add funds to your Trade Me account to cover listing promotions and success fees. Find out what happens if your account goes into debt.

 

What your Trade Me account is used for

Use money in your Trade Me account to:

  • Pay for promotions when you start a listing.
  • Send something through Book a Courier.
  • Pay success fees after you sell an item.

 

You can’t use your Trade Me balance to purchase items on Trade Me.

Add credit to your Trade Me account

To add credit to your Trade Me account on the Trade Me website:

1. Go to My Trade Me.
2. Under 'My balances', select Credit my account
3. Enter an amount and select your payment method.
4. Select Top up.

To add credit to your Trade Me account on the iOS app:

1. Go to profile-framed My Trade Me.
2. Select Profile & Account.
3. Under ‘Balances’, select Account Balance.
4. Select Add credit.
5. Enter an amount and select your payment method.
6. Select Make payment.

To add credit to your Trade Me account on the Android app:

1. Go to profile-framed My Trade Me.
2. Select Profile & Account.
3. Under ‘Balances’, select Account Balance.
4. Select Add credit.
5. Enter an amount and select your payment method.
6. Select Make payment.

If you've accidently topped up your account, contact our Support team for a refund. 

Top up with internet banking 

Use internet banking to add credit to your Trade Me account. It can take up to three business days for internet banking payments to show in your account balance.

To add Trade Me as a biller: 

  1. Log in to your internet banking.
  2. Select the option to pay a bill or add a new payee.
  3. Search for 'Trade Me Limited' in your bank’s list of registered billers.

Payment references 

To make sure the credit goes to the right place, include these references:

  • Particulars: Your member number (found in My Trade Me).
  • Reference: Your Trade Me email address (as much as can fit in the field)

If your Trade Me account is in debt

If your Trade Me account is in debt we’ll reach out with a few automated email reminders. When you’re ready, add credit to your Trade Me account to repay the debt. 

Your account can stay in debt for 90 days before it’s suspended. If this happens, top up your Trade Me account to start using it again.
