Auctions
To run an auction, specify a 'Start price' when creating your listing.-
Buyers can bid against each other.

The highest bidder wins the auction (if the reserve is met).

If a bid is placed within the last two minutes of an auction, it will auto-extend by two minutes.
Start price
Minimum first bid. Must be entered to create an auction.
Reserve (optional)
Auctions will only sell if the reserve is met. Specify a reserve if you have a minimum price in mind.
Buy Now (optional)
Available until the reserve is met. If a buyer selects Buy Now, the auction will close once the purchase is confirmed.

Make an Offer (optional)
Available until the reserve is met. Buyers can make an offer – sellers can accept, decline, or make a counteroffer.

Buy Now only & multiple quantity listings (MQL)
To start a Buy Now only listing or MQL, specify a Buy Now price – but leave 'Start price' and 'Reserve' empty.
- Listings only have a Buy Now price – no bidding.
- Auctions can't be changed to Buy Now only or MQL, and vice-versa.
- Make an Offer is available. Learn more.
- Multiple quantities of identical items (or groups/bundles of items) can be offered to multiple buyers, from the same listing.
- The listing will close once all items have been sold.
- Specify an available quantity – make multiple sales from one listing.
- MQLs can't be edited after a sale has been made.
- Enter the quantity you have available to sell.
- Select whether to charge shipping per item or per order, under 'Shipping & pick-up'.

Classified listings
With a classified listing, you deal and negotiate with potential buyers directly – and aren't tied down to the auction process.
Pets & animals
- Set an asking price (if selling rather than adopting).
- Or near offer option – if you're flexible on price.
- Buyers can contact via email (your email isn't displayed).
- Phone number displayed securely – only to logged-in Trade Me members.
Once your pet has been rehomed, the listing should be withdrawn. Even if you've simply taken a deposit from the buyer.
Heavy machinery & other listings
- Set an asking price.
- Or near offer option – if you're flexible on price.
- Buyers can contact via email (your email isn't displayed).

- A phone number can be displayed securely (only visible to logged-in Trade Me members).
- Option to add real estate agent details – if applicable.
Once your property has sold, the listing should be withdrawn.
Open homes
- Add up to eight open home dates to your listing.
- An address is required to add open home dates.
For rent, for lease, flatmates wanted
- Display weekly rent, or monthly or annual lease.
- Potential tenants can apply online via Renti integration (residential for rent only).
- Potential tenants can contact via email (your email isn't displayed).
- Phone number displayed securely – only to logged-in Trade Me members.
Once your property has been rented or leased, the listing should be withdrawn.
Jobs
- Recruiters advertise a job vacancy.
- Candidates can apply online, or contact the recruiter.
Once the vacancy has been filled, the listing should be withdrawn.
Services
- Ideal for small businesses and sole traders.
- Advertisers set up a listing to offer services.
- Members contact advertisers directly.
- Members can review their experience.
