Scammers are posing as a Trade Me recruiter and sending SMS messages about a job offer to members. Find out what to do if you get a scam message.

We’re aware of Trade Me customers receiving SMS messages impersonating Trade Me Jobs recruiters. These are not real messages from us. They are a phishing scam.

If you get the job offer scam message

If you or anyone you know receives a text message from anyone claiming to be a recruiter from Trade Me Jobs:

  1. Do not respond to the message.
  2. Report TXT spam to DIA.
  3. Delete the message.

If you have responded to the sender and given your personal information, get advice from the NZ Police and confidential support from Netsafe.
