After my own query, I have come to the conclusion that if TradeMe waits long enough for an auction to finish before responding, they don’t have to actually deal with pesky problems like people using their platform to fence stolen property, because it is now too late to do anything about it. Oh dear, how unfortunate. The seller has the money, the buyer has their limited edition item and my store has lost any chance of recovering the stolen property.
What do you do if you have reason to believe someone is listing stolen property? For example, an uncommon item, listed new, well below wholesale and market prices later in the day that an identical item was stolen from a store in the same region
