I got one last year and played around with it in Tor Browser. [Unlisted on Youtube] https://youtu.be/20GgzRaFeRM?si=KbvEMZGq-CzKrkcM&t=67  The 'support chat' provided the best laughs. "Message from TradeMe: dear buyer, why you use russian ip-address?" Surprising to me that there (at least appeared) was a person actively monitoring their phishing website.   All the more reason to only have your email address in your buyer message. Don't include phone number or address. Maybe not even a bank number (they could use the first numbers to find which bank you are with for a more targeted version).

Thank you S. This is from an individual seller and they only has won (rather than a Multiple quantity listing/MQL).   I'll email again to see what's happening. :)

  • Mark created a post,

I bought an auction using buy now. So far the seller has not responded in 4 days even though they have listed more items since. At the top I have the usual section saying that I have won the auction. If I view without a TradeMe account signed in the listing shows "This listing closed and did not sell". A bug in TradeMe or has the seller done something?

  • Mark commented,

Totally. Still as of today. My listings only now show up on the bid bud. But BEFORE  if you googled my Trade Me name it would take you to my listings where I actually sell on Trade me NOT BiD BUD. If you’re directing your customers to where you sell only TRADE ME . But then they go to google it as youve told them and it comes up as big bud. NOt HAPPY. Facepalm emoji needed! You agreed to TradeMe's terms of service, which stated about 3rd party API access. And why are you still angry? It benefits you, because your items are not just being advertised on TradeMe's own website. There are peo...

This post thread shows an example of ticking 'I accept terms & conditions' without reading what that means. There are many 3rd party apps using TradeMe's API. BidBud is an awesome use of TradeMe API and I do almost every trade using it. We should be thanking TradeMe for creating/maintaining their API.

Yes Catharine, it could be someone's TradeMe account 'hacked'. Sadly it happens on many other websites too. Someone I know recently had their social media account hijacked by this.   It's likely not 'hacked' from Trademe's side, what has likely happened is that the user has had their login leaked or session tokens leaked. Example: The person has accidently opened a file included in an email. -> The file didn't open and they thought nothing of it. The file was an .exe or .scr executable file and it was malicious code running on their computer. The file looked at their stored passwords and/o...

I had a success fee refund the next business day for my listing Catherine.

  • Mark commented,

Yes, I saw that email this morning and my success fee had been refunded. Extra brownie points for TradeMe, I saw the user came up as "account suspended" after 2 negative feedback ratings (myself + someone else) last night. This morning the account looks fully suspended. Great job for the system automatically disabling their account until a human could verify, that has would have saved more people they were trying to target!

Got an email which doesn't seem right? It's probably a scam! Always double check on trademe.co.nz for the status of your listings and account.    This is a phishing attempt email I received shortly after a user bought an auction of mine: What's wrong with this email? Sender is not TradeMe (@trademe.co.nz). Bad grammar. TradeMe would never ask you to click a link through your email to complete a trade. TradeMe does not have a payment holding system like this scam depicts. TradeMe emails typically have a footer reminding you about scams. I had bank transfer/cash for payment methods of my a...

As said, we all start from zero. TradeMe is good when it comes to refunding a success fee from the sale not going through. I would leave it and let them win. If they had substantial bad feedback (personal decision for percentage) then I would remove their bid.
