Why does Trade me and a few other dodgy sites continue to promote illegal ticket sales? Under NZ law, selling above face value is specifically prohibited where the event has been formally declared a “major event” under the Major Events Management Act 2007. For a declared major event, you cannot sell or trade a ticket for more than its original sale price without the organiser’s authorisation. Knowingly doing so can result in a fine of up to $5,000. Sure things happen where you cant attend an event but generally not an hour after you've bought the tickets!!
