I agree wholeheartedly Flossy63. I am in-trade and have for some time reported other members who are clearly reselling and who should be in-trade, they have multiple listings of the same item and list another as soon as one sells. It's been years of reporting the same sellers using community watch, without anything changing. I suspect they just ignore Trademe's email's requesting they declare themselves in-trade. A lot of trademe's policies are not really policies, as they are not enforced. If they are going to advertise criteria for being considered in-trade, then they need to enforce the...
Thanks Callum. It doesn’t seem a very well thought out decision. It seems to be impacting many sellers. Also seems the change was only forced on in-trade sellers vs casual sellers, I would have thought being in-trade would generally provide additional assurances to buyers vs increased likelihood of being scammed by a casual seller. I’ve never once had an issue with bank deposit, in over 10 years of selling/buying. I guess I’m trying to apply common sense / logic to the decision, but perhaps just have to accept that common sense and logic doesn’t always apply to these decisions. I guess...
I've also lost access to the desktop version. The new layout is horrific, and thats putting it nicely. Even when I click to view my sold items, there is no ability to sort them in order of most recent sales. The item on the top of the list closed 7 days ago, the second item closed yesterday. Any web designer with an ounce of intelligence would provide an option to sort. Currently there is no sort option, only an option to list items which closed within 24hrs, 7days, 45days, etc.
I’m confused, isn’t the make an offer feature optional? Ie if in trade members had the option of using it, we could turn it off and on, per listing. You both make it sound as though enabling this feature for in trade members would mean we a forced to activate it across all listings? I must be mistaken , as I was always of the understanding that casual members chose whether to activate it or not. Back to my original question, surely in trade members should have more functionality , not less? Enabling make an offer, would be the preference of the business, but why is the option not ava...
I'm also scratching my head trying to apply some logic to sending 'payment instructions'. I've previously had payment instructions set to send automatically, but given Trademe no longer allow bank deposit, do payment instructions still make sense? I guess if I add cash as a payment option, and then ask the buyer to deposit into my account, they have the payment instructions with the bank account details, all sort of defeats the purpose of removing the bank deposit payment option doesn't it....
Callum, yes realise that. I posted in this thread but my post is pending. I questioned why bank deposit would be removed , but a cash option be available. How is bank deposit any less secure than cash? I’d prefer cash being deposited in my bank account, vs having cash handed to me in person.
Thanks Michelle. How is cash any different to a cash deposit made to a bank account? In NZ cash is legal tender, and I’m struggling to get my head around why bank deposit would be removed as an option, while cash is still available. It’s clearly having an impact on my sales given I previously offered bank deposit, and many of my sales used this payment method. I understand the need to offer ping and afterpay, both of which I’ve always offered, I’m struggling to understand the reasoning behind removing bank deposit as an option from listings which already offer ping as an option.
It's not really the best result at all. Why should the buyer end up with positive feedback being changed to neutral (simply for not placing feedback), and now all feedback is deleted. The best result would be for the buyer to still have positive feedback, at the end of the day there isn't any fault on the buyers part. Being able to so easily manipulate the Trademe feedback system seems somewhat of a failure.
If I've ever had a customer wish to return a item due to a change of mind, I always make it 100% clear that goods need to be returned in as new/unworn condition, exactly as received with all packaging etc. I've had the same occur where despite making the refund conditions clear for a change of mind refund, I've had a watch returned with links removed from the strap and links loose in the courier bag, and missing the user guide, in which case I refused to refund, and shipped the watch back to the customer (at my cost). I kept copies of correspondence and took photos, and Trademe removed nega...
On the other hand, I've had negative feedback left by a customer who hasn't even contacted us before placing negative feedback. Personally I think the feedback system is fundamentally broken. People are reluctant to leave negative feedback when negative feedback is justified, and other people leave negative feedback before even allowing a seller/buyer the opportunity to rectify the issue.
