Ok I hadn’t spotted that option, and it may deter some from trying to avoid it but in most cases it seems to be a deliberate strategy to ignore what it says in the listing or mislead, eg by sending the address with RD omitted and asking what the total cost is including shipping

  • Robert commented,

I get that but if you’re using a shipping option other than tm couriers (eg nz post bag) there isnt room to stick that in easily

  • Robert created a post,

I'm seeing an increasing number of rural buyers attempting to avoid the RD surcharge by omitting the RD info in the delivery address they supply, or not paying the appropriate amount when the posted shipping amount states "RD extra". This obviously doesn't happen (except maybe with Aramex) if their shipping address is uploaded to their Trademe profile or if the seller gets a quote via Book a Courier. Presumably they're hoping the seller won't notice that they're forking out an extra $5.50 or whatever on shipping, but it's an unnecessary waste of time having to get them to top-up the payment...

Don't know if this just happens when you list using the IOS app, but I find it irritating to re-enter what my suburb for pickup is each time I make a new listing. I often forget to do it and then get the inevitable 'Where in Auckland is pickup? question. And for some dumb reason you can't change from 'suburb unspecified' to show it after there has been a bid. Same with delivery address. A waste of time having to wait for an email, then manually enter it to get a quote, and put up with addresses that don't come up or have too many characters to fit. Just make them both the default and allow ...

Nope, no actual progress. I did consider going in to their depot but it would be a 40 km round trip and potentially might encounter an unhelpful response (eg youll have to apply for a refund and rebook it). Whatever I do it’s going to cost me in one way or another

I have a package which is 8 days overdue for pickup by Aramex, and another that is 2 days overdue. I have made contact with Aramex through all avenues including inquiries, complaints, feedback, phone and texting courier repeatedly. Today their overseas call centre said the first package was picked up 4 years ago (!) and delivered (and yes I did send a package 4 years ago to the different address they identified). Tracking through their website doesn't work which would be consistent with the number being for an old delivery. Triple-checked the booking/tracking number and it is 100% correct a...

I have the opposite problem. I can’t get them to pick up my parcels, which were supposed to have been collected a week ago. Have tried their call centre, online inquiry form and texting the useless driver multiple times. Once he took 10 days. Pretty sure he hasn’t been at work as I haven’t seen a van the whole time. Fortunately my packages haven’t been stolen, but it looks to buyers that it’s my fault 😡

I booked a pickup recently by Aramex for 2 parcels. It took 3 complaints and 2 1/2 days before they were finally collected by a 3rd party courier. Estimated delivery time: 2 weeks Auckland to Christchurch. No sign of delivery yet. Perhaps they only have one truck and all their contractors have left. This service is not fit for purpose.

Aramex took 2 1/2 days and 3 complaints to collect my last 2 deliveries. It's a miracle they weren't stolen, and they may possibly be ruined from heavy driving rainfalls even though I took them in at night. Eventually they were picked up by some other courier they sent out. Estimated delivery time: 2 weeks AKL-CH. Fantastic service! I had an item (bolt cutters) go missing after being collected by Aramex and they were only going to Hamilton but supposedly didn't get to the Auckland depot. I suspect this was an inside job.

I’m sure it’s been raised before but NZ Post rates change depending on the day or time. I got shipping quotes a few days ago using the supplied address. Buyer paid and when I went to send it the following day the price had increased by about $3. I waited till the next morning and the original price came up again so I was able to send it without losing money. Not sure why this happens. Maybe theyve bought the uber app which applies congestion pricing even though most of the congestion round here is from hundreds of white Prius cars
