It's time like this RemovePaywall dot com comes in handy. 3rd option did it on that article from memory.
Yes I was joking Gary, in the same vein as some of Robert's points. Seriously though as an online trader one of our most valuable assets is the database of past customers' contact details. They are used to compile a Mailchimp direct mailing list for promotions to target those who have expressed interest by purchasing our products in the past. There's unsubscribe functionality so those that want to avoid promotional emails can do so to keep us compliant with spam laws. As Trade Me has degraded its online presence and its listings now seem invisible to Google and other search engines anythin...
@Diana, Your footnote idea is pretty unworkable. The presence of Ping will catch buyers' attention and hijack the payment process. Lets face it, the average buyer here is not very tech savvy. We have buyers that keep paying our higher Trade Me prices despite our email contact with them including a direct link to our website where the products are cheaper.
@osiris2 & Callum Surely the solution to potential liability would be best addressed by including a warning point in TM's T&Cs in regard to payment method safety rather than restricting and taxing all In Trade sellers in the way they have.
I was being flippant. Unaware of that actually happening in reality though I did see it happen/suggested somewhere. Etsy maybe? We're not there anymore either.
Previously when a listing finished part of the Fixed Price Offer process divulged who the watchers were and a seller was able to select which of those watchers the offer would be made to to avoid buyers with poor feedback, etc. The new format expects us to blindly offer to any watcher on the listing without knowing who they are. Is there any way to 'filter' the recipients of a FPO?
crystal69, That doesn't work. I just relisted 3 of our items and despite Bank transfer showing as an option during the manual relisting process all reverted to Ping or cash only once listed, and those listings I've subsequently removed due to this.
sledgenzr That's pretty much my take on the situation. We have a long established website to revert to so are longer listing on TM as a result and it would be interesting to know how many others have withdrawn trading here similarly.
