Michelle, it is sad that those of us who dislike using Ping are not offered the choice of staying with Trade Me and continuing to use our bank accounts. Yes, you say it is because Trade Me is concerned about your customers but that is a choice your customers got to make. What kind of a deal does Trade Me have with backers of Ping that makes it necessary for you to force this change on us? Some data would be nice to see - before this push for a change, what percentage of Trade Me sellers/buyers were using Ping? What percentage do the backers of Ping require you to have or how many do yo...
So if Trade Me is only charging a tiered fee on purchases, then what is the following from the email Trade Me sent... 'Ping carries a 2.19% transaction fee to keep your money safe, and will be available on every listing...' This means that there is still a percentage charged on the amount paid for an item. If you purchase is over $20 Trade Me is double dipping.
I wonder if it is to do with the two courier options Trade Me offers, they prices can be much more than some of the other couriers i.e. Pass the parcel.
AJ, we tend to think of Trade Me as ours but let us remember it is privately owned by a UK company.
S - a saying comes to mind... Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practise to deceive.
AJ, the comment about not taking a cut is purely me and not stated in TM's info.
This is for sales where postage is not listed or an alteration is wanted. It was interesting reading all the extra info in the 'click here's'.
Trade me says that postage can be paid by bank transfer, they are not expecting a cut from that.
Howold, you are blinding me with financial talk and acronyms.
And if someone does do it anyway... 'Offering bank transfer after the sale is against Trade Me's site policy. Bank transfer has been removed as a payment option to protect users, and all Marketplace listings must use Ping or other approved methods. Violating this policy may result in action against your account.' In other words... Do it and you will be remove from Trade Me.
