Create and edit your Job Profile
Make a Job Profile to apply to jobs on Trade Me. Save your CV and make your profile visible so employers can reach out to you.
You’ll use your Job Profile to apply to jobs on Trade Me. If you make your profile visible, employers can contact you about job opportunities.
Create your Job Profile
To create your Job Profile on the Trade Me website:
1. Go to My Trade Me.
2. Under ‘Update my details’, select Job Profile.
3. Select Create my Job Profile.
4. Complete the form and select Create Profile.
5. Select View Job Profile to adjust your profile’s visibility settings and add more information, like your CV.
To create your Job Profile on the iOS app:
1. Tap My Trade Me profile-framed and go to Profile & Account.
2. Under 'My Account' select briefcase Job Profile.
3. Select Create Job Profile.
4. Add your details.
To create your Job Profile on the Android app:
1. Tap My Trade Me profile-framed and go to Profile & Account.
2. Under 'My Account' select briefcase Job Profile.
3. Select Create Job Profile.
4. Add your details.
After you create your profile, add a summary, work preferences, skills and your CV. Adding more to your profile can enhance job recommendations and make applying for jobs on Trade Me easier.
Edit your Job Profile
To edit your Job Profile on the Trade Me website:
1. Go to My Trade Me.
2. Under 'Update my details', select Job Profile.
3. Select Edit in the section you want to change.
To edit your Job Profile on the iOS app:
1. Go to My Trade Me
2. Select profile-framed Profile &Account.
3. Under 'My Account' select briefcase Job Profile.
4. Edit your details.
To edit your Job Profile on the Android app:
1. Go to My Trade Me.
2. Select profile-framed Profile &Account.
3. Under 'My Account' select briefcase Job Profile.
4. Edit your details.
We can't delete your job profile. If you want to stop using it, remove your information and change the visibility to hidden.
Choose your profile's visibility
You’re in control of whether employers or recruiters can view your Job Profile and personal details.
| Full profile | Employers and recruiters can see your profile and contact you about jobs. |
| Limited profile | Employers and recruiters can find your profile, but can’t see your personal information. |
| Hidden | Your profile and personal information are hidden from employers and recruiters. |
Update your Job Profile’s visibility
- Go to My Trade Me.
- Under ‘Update my details’, select Job Profile.
- In the right column, under ‘Profile visibility’ select your profile’s current visibility to show the options.
- Select a visibility option.
Text messages about Jobs
If you set your profile visibility to 'Full Profile' and opt in to email notifications and push notifications, you might receive text messages from us. Recruiters and employers use these messages to invite you to apply for a role.
What a genuine text looks like
To help you stay safe online, it is important to know how to spot a real message from us. A genuine text will always:
- Start with Trade Me:
- Include your first name and the employer’s contact name.
- Have a direct link to the job listing on Trade Me starting with trademe.co.nz/jobs/tere/.
- Include Reply Stop to opt out.
Be aware of scam messages
If a text message does not include the elements above, it could be a scam. Learn more about job offer scam messages and how to keep yourself safe.
Below is an example of what a text message from us looks like:
Add or remove CVs and documents
- Go to My Trade Me.
- Select CVs & Documents.
- Select the type of document you want to upload.
- To remove a document, tick the box next it and select Delete.
If your profile has full visibility, employers can download a copy of your CV when they view your profile.
