Pick a strong password

Your Trade Me password must be at least eight characters long. For a strong and secure password:

  • include letters, numbers, and special characters
  • use a phrase or sentence made up of random words
  • don’t use words people might guess (like your pet’s name, your street name, or part of your email address).

Forgotten password

If you forgot your password and can’t log into your Trade Me account, you can reset it.

To reset a forgotten password on the new-look site:

1. Go to trademe.co.nz and select Log in.
2. Under ‘Password’, select Forgotten password?
3. Enter your email address you use for your Trade Me account.
4. Select Send instructions.
5. Check your email inbox for password reset instructions and follow the link in the email.
6. Enter your new password and select Change password.

To reset a forgotten password on the iOS app:

1. Go to My Trade Me.
2. Select Log in.
3. Select Forgotten password?
4. Enter the email address you use for your Trade Me account.
5. Select Next.
6. Check your email inbox for password reset instructions
7. Follow the link in the email to open the ‘Reset Password’ screen.
8. Enter your new password. Enter it again to confirm.
9. Select Change password.
10. Log in with your new password.

To reset a forgotten password on the Android app:

1. Go to My Trade Me.
2. Select Log in.
3. Select Forgotten password?
4. Enter the email address you use for your Trade Me account.
5. Select Next.
6. Check your email inbox for password reset instructions
7. Follow the link in the email to open the ‘Reset Password’ screen.
8. Enter your new password. Enter it again to confirm.
9. Select Change password.
10. Log in with your new password.

Change password when you’re logged in

If you think someone else has your Trade Me password, change it right away.

To change your password while logged in on the new-look site:

1. Go to My Trade Me.
2. Under ‘Update my details’, select Change password.
3. Enter your old password and new password.
4. Select Change password.

To change your password while logged in on the iOS app:

1. Go to My Trade Me.
2. Select profile-framed Profile & Account.
3. Select My details.
4. Select Password.
5. Enter your current password and new password.
6. Select Update.
7. After you update your password, you’ll need to log in again.

To delete a delivery address on the Android app:

1. Go to My Trade Me.
2. Select profile-framed Profile & Account.
3. Select My details.
4. Select Password.
5. Enter your current password and new password.
6. Select Update.
7. After you update your password, you’ll need to log in again.
