The above chart appears questionable. It seems everyone, except for the individual above, is experiencing a decline in sales since last year. It would suggest the possibility that certain traders are being amplified in exposure over others. This trend is reminiscent of what occurred with the Facebook marketplace – an initial surge in exposure followed by a sudden drop-off. There is evidently manipulation happening across all these platforms, reflecting a growing trend of increased greed and unscrupulous behaviour in the world. Trademe, is just following suit perhaps.

  • JJ commented,

Well, when you have an impressive inventory of over 500 items for sale, but your sell-through rate struggles to hit a whopping 1% or 2% each week, it really makes you wonder, doesn't it? Is it the market's challenging nature, or could it also possibly be TradeMe's admirable dedication to not keeping up with modern developments? Now, when I decide to list something on Facebook, it's like magic! My item practically dances into the spotlight, thanks to their cutting-edge recommendation system, I often get instant replies after listing something of interest. eBay and Amazon are the same; they'v...

  • JJ commented,

I was referring to the time of booking, because there are multiple days to book, and pretty sure there are replacement drivers, especially for downtown Auckland areas.

  • JJ commented,

Thanks S I wasn't aware of that piece of information; that wording is not shown when creating an auction for the seller, nor when a buyer purchases an auction. It would be great if TradeMe could not only the sellers know but also the buyers that they are required to pay the difference and that they will agree to that when purchasing an auction. This still seems like a breach of the Consumer Guarantees Act on the part of TradeMe or Aramex, with that not being clearly stated when creating auctions or purchasing. What do you think?

  • JJ commented,

S Regarding your statement: 'Courier services can disappear and reappear through Book A Courier depending on the seller's pickup and individual buyer/recipient's addresses. Not all couriers pick up and deliver to all areas or may have an available driver on the day of booking service.' I understand the concept, but the idea of a courier not being available on the chosen day seems unlikely. There are typically multiple delivery date options to choose from, and I've never encountered such an excuse. Shipping options that are presented as available when creating the auction should remain avail...

  • JJ commented,

S So, who is responsible in our case when we're left without an option? Nowhere does it explicitly state 'estimates.' The wording is inconsistent: it says 'Calculate courier costs' and 'We will show these shipping options on your listing. Once your item is sold, book a courier from your Sold items within My Trade Me.' This appears to be an affirmative statement, leading us to believe it is a quote, not an estimate. Can you clarify where it mentions 'estimates'?

  • JJ created a post,

I just booked 2 parcels for pickup and wasn't presented with options for Aramex, from whom I got my quotes. Consequently, I had to pay extra to use NZ Post. Is this not in breach of the consumer guarantees law or something? If I've been quoted a shipping price, shouldn't that quote be available? In this situation, who is responsible, Trade Me or Aramex? This is the blurb under the "Quotes" section on the consumer protection website: Quotes A quote is an offer to do a job for a specified price. Once you accept a quote, the provider can’t charge you more than that unless you agree to extra wo...

  • JJ commented,

Trademe has been my preferred selling platform, but unless things are going to change soon, then for me at least continuing business here might not be worth it. I strongly hope that Trademe acknowledges the feedback, suggestions, and user issues that have really been trumpeted for so long, and stops deleting threads that could give them insightful information to help them out.  It's not like the sellers here on Trademe want Trademe to fail, on the contrary, we're all here to fight for it to improve. But to have Trademe continuously chip away at our profits is dooming our businesses to fail,...

As a buyer, I also don't check the in-trade logo. If I'm searching for a specific item, it boils down to price, and if the pick-up is nearby with larger items. If it is a higher-value item with a little more risk, I go by the feedback history and check both the good and negative feedback.

This thread is surviving still, I'm amazed and it is probably the most engaged thread to date yet 🤦‍♂️
