  • Purchased an item a couple of weeks back and paid with Ping. New seller. Originally had pick-up only but I asked about shipping. They replied they can post for free. It hasn't arrived so I thought I'd ask for an update. Seller said they posted it a couple of days ago. Asked for the tracking number and got a "What's that?" response. I explained about the tracking number that would appear on the receipt when they posted the item. They replied. "Oh I just put it in some bubble wrap, then wrapped in paper, wrote your address on it and put it in the MailBox. It's the first time I have posted s...

  • Probably most people expect this at this time of year. But still worth noting for THOSE buyers who are on your case when their item hasn't arrived 25 seconds after they purchased it. Good to have a link you can refer them to. Delivery delays of 2 days within north island, 3 days between islands. https://www.nzpost.co.nz/contact-support/domestic-delivery-updates

  • I want to buy a contact lens solution. It is branded renu Can someone else try searching for renu or "renu" and tell me what you get?

  • This was something I knew banks were working on. It looks like they are starting to roll it out from next month. Kiwibank have advised me that they will begin in late November. For Trade Me it means you will need to have your bank account name correctly noted on your payment instructions you send out. For many purchases I make, sellers don't have the account name mentioned at all. I'm sure there will be plenty of teething problems, but overall I think it's going to be a really good extra safety net. NOTE: It doesn't go as far as stopping a payment if the name and account doesn't match, but ...

  • Looks like another test from Trade Me. Just noticed a little bin has popped up in the Q&A section. As always, I can't delete questions a buyer asks me BUT I can now delete comments I make on my auctions I can now delete questions I ask I can now delete my answers to questions, then answer it again.   The last one might be a bit of a problem. What notification will the buyer get if I answer a question, then delete it, then answer it again? Presumably I could do that forever. Also if I answer something   "It's blue" then change my mind and say "It's green"  The first response would disappear ...

  • Has anyone seen this before. Before I send an enquiry through to Trade Me. The seller location is listed as not specified everywhere. On the email notification of new listings, on the selling page, and on their profile page. The item itself is a TV and pickup only. They do have a pick-up suburb in the listing itself, and I have asked them via Q&A if they know why their listing is looking like that.

  • I'm sure most professional sellers already have shipping costs on their auctions. They probably got the email from Trade Me as well. But I've found that casual sellers items do also show up on google shopping. So it's a good reminder to everyone that if you want your items to get the increased advertising that Google offers you need to have shipping costs added. I've seen a few posts lately from people saying they don't, can't, won't add shipping costs. Here is another reason why you should. Full blog post about how to get your items showing on google at the link. https://www.trademe.co.nz/...

  • It's getting pretty tiresome telling people over and over again that the item they want to buy has actually been sold. Trade Me tell them it is not sold. Bidbud can get it right, why can't Trade Me? This bug was first reported 2 years ago at this post. https://help.trademe.co.nz/hc/en-us/community/posts/4413984264717-Closed-and-didn-t-sell-shows-as-sold-to-another-member Here is an example from today. This iPad was SOLD. Trade Me says it didn't. The ios App says it didn't. Only Bidbud gets it right and shows the true status of the item. Screenshots in order: ios app WRONG Trade Me desktop W...

  • I have noticed an increase in posts lately, and have been targeted myself, by a type of phishing scam that is prevalent at present on Trade Me. This post is just to give people an idea what it looks like so they can be warned. Everything is fairly professional looking at a glance over. English and grammar OK. Trade Me images and links clear and looking good. My item sold at 11:47am. Trade Me emailed me a warning at 12:54pm. So fairly fast reaction from Trade Me. Someone buys your item with buynow. You will get the standard genuine item sold email from Trade Me,  and also a  scam email. The ...

  • Just doing some browsing of my items and I noticed my shipping cost on display is 1c less than than the actual cost charged to buyers. Not the greatest issue in the world probably. But I'm still curious how it happens? This happens on all my items with a $4.60 DLE shipping template loaded. So a couple of hundred items. If you click through to the actual auction it is $4.60. Buyer is charged $4.60.  It is just on the landing page when you search or browse that the value is incorrect and shows $4.59. I have never had a $4.59 shipping cost loaded that I am aware of. So can't be items stuck som...
