Shipping needs to be made compulsary on auctions for those using PING,
Yet again, I used a buy now paid with Ping,
days later still waiting for shipping to be confirmed, to pay via manual bank deposit,
so no chance of it being sent within 3 days, conditions of using Ping, weekend sale, so should have had it this week,
Only for seller to come back now and try & charge more than triple for what should have been an Across town rate?,
But oh no, not in same city, they are actually down other end of Island, Profile details out of date,
now I have to suck excessive shipping up?,
I formed a contract on condition they were in same city as auction showed,
as could have possibly also picked up, well no, definitely no chance of that happening now,
Trade Me need to make shipping compulsory for those that want to offer ping,
No Shipping quoted on auction, Simple no Ping option,
It is not rocket science to work out shipping to different locations, Trade Me even provide the tools to get quotes,
Courier bags, have nationwide rates, Urban & Rural,
Boxes/Parcels, 3 options: Across town, within Island(North Island) & South Island for example,

While its annoying when something goes wrong like this, I disagree that shipping should be compulsary on Ping auctions. I get lots of pickups that payby ping, so why force shipping on them. In general, forcing ping on people is not a great option. There are quite a number of people who cannot/ no not wish to use ping and so you would loose that business.
All trades dont all go smoothly, but its part of the game, and if you are going to be in the game, you need to accept that

If it is a Pick up only option, then you do not need shipping,
But Shipping on auction should be compulsory, and not shipping to be arranged, for all those that choose to offer ping,
cannot abide by those conditions than should not offer ping, Ping is for a quick checkout to get item on the way as quick as possible and within 3 days,
so if you allow pickups then you need shipping too, It is not rocket science to work out,
especially on Intrade sellers, who are avoiding fees by having shipping to be arranged, yet can quote it in the actual auction?,
What is the point of that?, complete fee avoidance, then poor buyer has to muck around making manual bank deposits,
which delays parcel being sent further, so it is in neither in favour for buyer or seller, seller has to sort shipping cost to be paid,
then wait for it to show in their bank account to be shipped, buyer has to wait on seller to confirm shipping, make manual payment, then wait for when it actually gets shipped,
so making an Immediate payment via Ping with shipping, know it will, or should be shipped in 3 days, PING Conditions.
but no shipping can be a week or more before actually being shipped?, it totally defeats the purpose of offering,
Yet 3 days later have not even got the shipping to pay?, so will not get item well into until next week,
So many reasons to make it compulsory,
and I disagree to losing business because you do not offer ping?,
I do not offer ping, as just too many fees, as it is, Category I sell in is 9.9% fees & on shipping too, not adding those Ping fees into your sales, keeps prices lower, so will get business, as overall cheaper cost,
It works both ways,

You may have a point re the higher shipping costs due to their incorrect location, but did you not ask the shipping costs prior to buying? Asking the buyer to load the shipping costs onto the auction prior to buying wouldve resolved both the higher cost, the waiting for the cost, plus the need to pay via manual deposit. If shipping hasnt been loaded, I always ask so I know the total cost of the purchase

Basic knowledge, when both parties live in same city, Shipping will be at the across town rate,
and his actual location within city was showing before he changed his profile, so was a certainty well in the city,
So was no need to ask as it will be under $10 in a large Box up to 25Kg's, $7.50 non Signature NZ post,
& even cheaper with Aramex, hence why we try and buy big items within your own City, so good shipping rates,
and as for asking, no, no time, I asked a question night before when it was listed late about the auction, which he answered in the morning, when I was checking E-Mails, So I then hit the buy now before someone else did, sent an E-Mail to confirm shipping,
and was then out the door, shipping was oblivious as same city, had he had correct location, I probably would have moved on as
the cost to ship it,
It was an item that would have been snapped up very quickly and with the question I asked, and answer I got made item even better, So if I had not seen the answered question someone else would have got it, and been in same boat too, if in same City,

But in this case both parties werent in the same city, so the across town rate doesnt apply. And in some larger cities such as Auckland, it doesnt even cover all of the Auckland area.
You should also not assume which company the buyers use, for their reasons they may use a particular one and also might have additional costs to send it.
The fault of the seller is that they had the wrong location, but us experienced users know that this can sometimes happen and never rely on that solely. You fault was not confirming the shipping price prior to bidding. As you didnt, the price of shipping isnt covered the "contract" and the seller is allowed to charge you what their costs are to ship it to you. You couldve asked it at the same time as the other question so I dont see that as an excuse for not asking. Maybe take a lesson from this and move on.

You just do not get it, and have not read above very well?,
When the trade happened, sellers location was in the same city, his profile said same city, well within city, so yes the acrosstown rate, this is the information I formed a contract with the seller when I used the buy now, the condition he was located in the same city,
When you are in same City, the shipping is a flat rate across town up to 25Kg's basic common knowledge of sellers and a lot of buyers, in this case there was absolutely no reason to ask what we already know and waste a sellers time,
But only days later he comes back presenting me with very excessive shipping?, I questioned it?,
then says he was not in same city but other end of Island, he changed his profile to change location on auction,
but what was on auction is locked in you cannot change it, as a contract is formed to what is on auction,
this is not my fault, so do not say it was my fault for not asking for shipping, when obviously the across town rate, Simple,
if he was in the same city there would have been no issues at all,
Seller is the one totally at fault for not keeping their profile up to date, A Membership Condition,
in this case there was absolutely no reason to ask what we already know, been a member here for nearly 20 years,
never had issues like this before, and no I do not ask for shipping on auctions to be arranged, because being a big seller,
we have knowledge of approximate costs, and know what is right and know when something is not so right,
it is not rocket science to work it out yourself either,
so please don't point the finger at me, I have done nothing wrong,
A contract was formed to arrange shipping with seller, between my location and his Location as on auction, across town
as both within same city?,
the contract was not to be paying shipping from another part of the country, it was to arrange shipping within the same city a contract was formed with, but seller has broken the contract formed as in another part of country, Auction was misleading.
in no way is any of this my fault, it is the sellers responsibility to make sure auction details were correct, make sure their profile details kept up to date, they failed,
