Why is Ping a payment option on my listing
Answered-
Interstesting. My heading has been changed? Why? I did not do this! Did administrators not like the truth..was originally PING SCAM.
Has Trade Me watched Fair Go regarding preticked boxes.2 -

I just got stung too. Forgot on one auction to untick the box and they paid by ping and I got a $15 charge on top of the success fees. I then had to try and get the money paid out to me- which I sorted but have to wait up to 2 days. Total rip off- should not be a default setting. Shame on you trade me. I deleted my credit card details so no card is linked to my account now. Really angry about this.

This is a dishonest practise having it as a default setting. I feel really angry about this.

Kia Ora Michelle,
Thank you for your Comment,
Just looking for clarification please,
This is the first I have heard of <quote> a new feature that remembers the payment methods you offer on listings for next time. <unquote>
Am I hearing from Members this is Not the case or working as expected?
To quote Terry from above <quote> Forgot on one auction to untick the box and they paid by ping and I got a $15 charge on top of the success fees. </unquote>
This quote indicates the selected payment methods chosen by Terry on unselecting the Ping as a Payment option has Not Remembered Terry's Payment Methods for Next time?
I was of the understanding Ping was a Permanent Default Pre-Selected? - Clarification of this would be Most Helpful please.
Clarification from Members who are experiencing the Ping Payment being Auto-Selected everytime and Not Remembering their preferred Payment method used would be Most Helpful if the system is Not working as intended or expected.
Thank you.

Kia Ora Sandra,
Sorry to read you got a suprise with the Ping default,
You need to untick the payment options you don't want on your Listing(s) as you create them from within the Price & Payment page. - You can edit to remove the Ping option if it is on other Listings you may have running - Cheers.

Kia ora S,
Thanks for your questions. I've checked things out and selected payment methods are working as they should. Where Ping is unticked on the original listing all payment methods and other listing details are carried over to a relist.
If Ping was on the original listing it will carry over to a relist, so for a relist Ping will need to be unticked to remove it as a payment option.

Thank you for coming back Michelle,
To Confirm...
Ping is set as an Auto-Default on all New Listings created full stop.
If Ping is unselected as a payment method when creating a New Listing this un-selection is Remembered by the system on Relisting the Same Listing - within the first 45 days of the Listing closing.
Rather than - If it’s not for you, you can de-select it and we will remember that next time you go to list on our website
What happens in a Sell Similar scenario please?

Kia ora S,
Sell similar is a copy of a listing so should replicate the payment instructions of the original listing. If there is a specific example we can have a look at it, just pop it through to us on live chat.

S Community SuperuserThank you for confirming that part of the process Michelle,This is a valuable and educational Post - who knew that de-selecting the Ping option on creating a new listing then followed that Listing through the journey of unsold to relisting and the sell similar process? - The Default setting of Ping arriving indicated, to me, this to be the favoured process throughout all of the 1 listing stages as the prominent source. - No where could I find this information or clarity. - Cheers.0

From time to time we will edit a post or comment to make sure the title / subject is easy for others to to find through 'search', or edit comments so the information within is helpful and easy to understand for other members needing help with the same thing. Posts and comments should also fit our guidelines.
Last year we rolled out a new feature that remembers the payment methods you offer on listings for next time. To start things off, we selected cash, bank transfer, and Ping, as these are the most popular payment methods.
Ping is our very own payment product created and run in-house. If it’s not for you, you can de-select it and we will remember that next time you go to list on our website. We’ve found members who use Ping overwhelmingly love it, and so as part of offering the best possible experience for sellers, we’ve included it as one of the default payment methods.
