Additional postage after listing closed

I have won an auction on stamp album from a seller in the same city as where I am. After the listing closed, I paid immediately by Afterpay for the stamp album of $45.00 and postage $8.50. But the seller refused to post me the stamp album. He asked for additional postage of $6.50. But he clearly indicated the postage was $8.50 which I had paid and no charges for combined postage. Can a seller asked for additional charges after the listing closed? If he had wanted additional charges, he should have inform me at the Q & A section but he didnt. When I mentioned I will check with Trademe, he quickly said I need not pay for the additional postage. I find this seller rather dishonest and wanting to earned extra dollars from me. Can I refused to pay the extra postage (after the listing closed) when I have already paid the postage indicated on the listing? Please advise. Thank you.

If within same city, $8.50 would pretty much cover a stamp album. Can only see the reason for asking extra shipping if you paid urban shipping but are a rural address "with his courier", then $6.50 is ok for the rural extra price

Hi May. No. They cannot change the price of the shipping after you purchased it. The terms of the trade when you purchased it was $8.50 shipping.

The only way that can change is like Don said. If you selected the wrong option from their available shipping prices.

Yes indeed. Buyers will pay according to what was listed. Once I sold a jigsaw puzzle and estimated the postage to be $9.50 but turned out to be $14.50. I didnt asked the buyer to top up. I had to top up the difference as it was my fault not to find out the exact charges. I decided to give away my jigsaw puzzles to local sellers whom I bought jigsaw puzzles from. It is really not worth it as I had to take two buses to a post shop carried the puzzle. I have no driver's licence or children. It is very incovenient for me.

How to use the book a courier online via Trademe? I have never used the feature before. Do sellers have to enter into a fixed term contract with the courier company? Is it Courier Post or Aramex?

May, yes jigsaws can be problematic. I bundle them up in lots of 3 or 4 to make sending a bit more reasonable but it often costs more than they buyers pays and it varies greatly depending on where sending.

Book a Courier (often referred to as BAC) via Trademe is easy and no contracts needed. Depending on the buyers address you can usually choose either NZ Post courier or Aramex and it gives you both options to choose from when you are sending.

To use, you simply go to your sold page and choose the option there to Book a courier. You can also do a dummy run by doing this and editing address, size of box/bag etc and as long as you don't press the final book courier button you can step back and forward to see estimates with different parameters. Thank you for the information on book a courier. I am hardly a seller but more of a buyer. Yes, jigsaw puzzles are difficult to handle and I need to bring the whole box to the post shop to find out the charges, bring it home again by bus to have it wrapped and bring back again ro the post shop to send it off. All my bus fares had gone and I had a deficit from what I had sold. Now I will donate to Op shops if I happened to go there. Thank you.
