Buy Now for one person but taken by another one
Hi,
not sure if someone can help me please. Put a BUY NOW up for someone who had contacted via ?s and answers and they were keen to buy but when I put up the buy now someone else jumped in and took it. Now the person who won it says they did not see the ?s and it is theirs. The person who really wanted it says the person who took the BUY NOW should have seen the conversation we had and known it was for them. What should I do?

Jess, the person that used Buy Now ie the one that bought it on Trademe is the rightful buyer. First in first served. Congrats on the sale. Some people use an automatic bidding system which has a feature to automatically use Buy Now within a few seconds of it being added and the price is within the limit they have set.

Yeah, I've got to agree with Gary on that. First in, first served. As a buyer I've been on the losing end of that sort of scenario - nothing to be done about it, the person who hit the buy now is the new owner.

This happens - its not the first time that this has come up on this page. Buyers need to accept that if they ask for a "Buy-Now" they run the risk of being sniped, whoever hits the buy now first is the new owner, its really not your problem, if they are harassing you on your other listings add them to your black list. This is their own fault not yours, perhaps if they just played the game and put on a bid, they may have been the new owner, but they made the choice to ask for a buy now, its on them not you.
You have nothing to feel guilty about. You have done nothing wrong. Just sell it to the person who hit the button, not the one crying in the Q&A.

I am also with Gary,
as I set up Auto bids in Bid bud, if a buy now is added, it wins for me,
just luck of the draw, first in first served,
The seller has done nothing wrong,

Same answer as all the others. If you REALLY only want the person who requested the buynow to take it (And why would you?) The only way is to mess around and set up a separate auction just for them, with title and description saying it is for a specific person only. Then you have the trouble and cost of removing the original item and annoying the heck out of all the others who had the original item on their watchlist.

this is good to remember - i get abit anxious the few times i have agreed to put up a 'buy now' that the person requesting it may miss out if someone 'jumps' in - i guess the answer to that is the 'make an offer' option :)

Anyone know what happens if several people have that Auto bid function set up in Bid bud for a particular auction?

Hi Michael. As per normal autobids, the highest autobid will still win.

It is usually the one that has set the highest Auto bid will win,
if it is set higher than the buy now when buy now is added,
in the event several have set the same auto bid value, it goes to the one that set their Autobid first,
this is going by losing E-Mails I have received,

I guess this is what the newish "Make an Offer" function is for so. It's only available via the app though.
