Kia ora Milan. Due to a recent update, Q cards are no longer supported via Ping. This means you'll need to use another payment method or a different card (Q Mastercard is still accepted).
If there is any change to this, I'll update this post. Thanks.-10 -
Yes this is stupid trade me stopped excepting Q card WHY? Trade me will be dead to me
8 -
This is so incredibly stupid. This will stop me shopping on Trade Me for sure. I'll spend my money elsewhere.
6 -
Well, this sucks. I guess Trademe are discouraging consumerism so people don't overspend on their Q Cards. LOL Hey Trademe, seen a drop in transactions yet?
I know I won't be shopping as much on Trademe since there's now no difference between outright paying from my bank account as using Ping/Q Card. The ability to use my Q Card at several retailers has made my life a lot easier, e.g. Repco, Bunnings and until now, Trademe.

WOW! I bet that has ruined Xmas for a lot of people!
4 -
Wow I can't believe you've just said that!! Q Card have not notified customers of being 'phased out' nor have other retailers stopped supporting it. At this point in time, Q Card is still viable and until we, the customer, are notified otherwise by Q Card themselves, then it's irresponsible of you to deny its use and to suggest we change to a different card.

I reckon. They didn't have to do that at all. Q Card is still valid and they're not cutting anyone off anytime soon.

Absolutely annoyed about this, I bought something and could not pay with my qcard and had to use my Visa, no message from TM saying it's not to be used, just a stupid message saying payment failed, THANKS FOR THE HEADS UP! further more, after talking to qcard, yes they are phasing it out, but anyone with an existing card is free to use it as long as they want. Good way to lose a ton of customers TM, who now no longer have minimum 3 months to pay and 3 month holiday. Will be taking my purchases else where that STILL excepts it, you know? EVERYONE but You! What a disgrace.

So Trade Me, you're telling me this was Q Cards update? Or was it yours? Because if it's yours, then you've just unilaterally inconvenienced 1000s and 1000s of Q Card holders for what? For an upgrade??? This is outrageous and not the least bit bad practice on your part. Sort it out and reinstate the ability to use Q Card!!

I'm with everyone else, been using my q card regularly until today it is invalid. No more big spending on TM now 😔
2 -
Yes unfortunately i wont be able to shop big as i always did it through qcard. It just means a loss for everyone

Well, I just went looking for a product on TM, found it and it looked a bit expensive, and of course, no Q Card so I had to look and think about it a bit harder. Then I remembered I have an Ebay Oz account, so hopped on there and found the exact same product. Less expensive including shipping, so for the price of one on TM, I got three!
I may have gotten it on TM if they still supported Q Card, but TM's loss. So since I have to pay straight out of my pocket now, iImight as well buy what I can off Ebay rather than TM. Trademe, I think your future looks bleak when you don't care or listen to your members/customers/whatever you call us.
Have you heard of Temu, Ebay, Ali? You're not only hurting yourself, you're hurting the people selling through you and us the consumers. Well, not really, we just take our business elsewhere...

That's odd. Maybe this is a very recent change. Because not only does Trade Me say they accept it, but so does Q-card on their own website. So if the person you spoke to is correct you should tell them their website is wrong.
I guess you have the standard Q-card, not the Q-card mastercard. The mastercard version will definitely be accepted.

Bazz to be fair it's not "EVERYONE but You!" that accepts Q card. Far from it. And even less merchants accept it online. It's only going to get worse as it phases out.
Postie? No Glassons? No Lincraft? No, Spotlight? No. Chemist warehouse? No. Rebel sports? No. Stirling sports? No. Harvey Norman? No. The list goes on and on........

Callum to be fair, it is not JUST Bazz, there are an awful LOT OF US and you're really grasping trying to push Q Card as irrelevant when it is far from it.
Warehouse? Yes. Kmart? Yes. BB&B? Yes. Briscoes? Yes. 100%? Yes. Animates? Yes. Air New Zealand? Yes. Walker and Hall? Yes. Smiths City? Yes. Number one Shoes? Yes. Pack n Save? Yes. Noel Leeming? Yes. Mobil? Yes. Nick Scali? Yes. Mitre 10? Yes. Nood? Yes. Michael Hill? Yes. Liquorland? Yes. Life Pharmacy? Yes. Just Jeans? Yes. Furniture Warehouse? Yes. Countdown? Yes. ... the list goes on and on ...
We can and will just shop elsewhere ... your loss.

TO Callum, your responses are arrogant and no one cares about your opinion. "Reticence"?? Q Card is far from dead mate, so think again.
And like you Brian, I've been shopping elsewhere with my Q CARD and if I have to pay full price, it's not via Trade Me that's for sure. Plenty of great traders out there and I've discovered Temu!!
Go woke go broke Trade Me.

I spoke to Q Card today and they said it was Trademe's decision to stop using Q Card. Not even Q Mastercard, it seems.

Trade me dead! SAD Welcome face book marketplace

I spoke to Q Card too, entirely TM decision. Funny cos I keep coming across merchants that accept Q Card with no hesitation. Easy enough to shop on a member's websites instead anyway. I will only purchase via TM in the future if I absolutely have to.

So are merchants leaving Q card as the fees are perhaps more expensive than other cards, there obviously must be a solid reason for this happening if not the fees

Donal It's probably more Qcard themselves. They aren't taking on new customers of Qcard or merchants. It's dying a natural death by attrition. Merchants probably don't want to bother having backend payment systems in place for a system that's going to become obsolete.

You are really pushing that narrative Callum and it's just not true. I've spoken to Q Card, and while they aren't taking any new customers for Q Card itself, they are far from being obsolete and they have a huge range of merchants, as I've pointed out but you seem to conveniently ignore that point. Seems like you should stop trying to justify TMs bad choices. Backend payment systems indeed. So far, I've spent a few hundred dollars using my Q Card outside of Trade Me, which I ordinarily would have spent on your platform earning you commission and I'm just one little old lady. Go woke, go broke as they say.

Cathy. Trade Me isn't "my" platform. I am just a member like you......

I just don't understand the reticence to stick with a dying product rather than change to a card that will indeed be accepted EVERYWHERE. If you want to stay with Q there is the Q mastercard. But there are much better options out there now. I get $2000- $3000 in cash back rewards each year by using my bnz visa. I admit I probably use it more than most people would however.

From what I can see QCard is being phased out. They aren't accepting any new customers, and haven't issued any new cards since 2016. Probably more and more retailers will stop supporting it as time passes and the people who use it drop off.
Cathy. If you are determined to stay with Q is there any reason you don't want to upgrade to Q mastercard? From what I can see there is only benefits from doing so.
