Trade Me cutting down most of our photos
AnsweredI have found an issue with TM cutting off a lot of the picture once you open a listing. The full picture is there when you look down through the gallery of the members listing, but, as soon as listing is opened, it gives an expanded view of only the middle of the picture, the rest is gone.
It is happening on the desk top version and the phone version, although it cuts off a lot more of the photo on the desk top. I have gone back into "my photos" part on TM, and the full picture is in there ok.
Anybody else having this issue?

Thanks for the info. Found the gallery "hidden in plain sight" but who actually knows thats there. Its really dumb. You have a tech company that has in its best interests to supply photos in the best way for the buyer (because if a buyer can see a full picture they are much more likely to buy and so TM then make more money). BUT they screw up the photo people see so its less appealling so that will drive down sales. Im totally bewildered by the dumb action of how the techies have set the picture to show. LUCY from TM, can you wade in on this??

Yes, TM have a couple of style controls that screw up how you expect the photo to show.
I can change to view as below by changing the ObjectFit: from Cover to Contain, but they have also locked the image aspect ratio / size by specifying scaling 100% in both horizontal and vertical. If it's just set to 100% vertical then the full picture displays as in the pic and fills any allowable viewport.

My problem is bigger.
Cannot up load more photos to current new listing. 5 have loaded. Cannot load any more. Tried different jpg files all under 5Mb.
"There is an error on the server."
Have typed this EXACT error message into Help plenty of junk NOTHING USEFUL.
Surely the help system SHOULD UNDERSTAND tmE error messages.
Tried to contact TMe help just get in a loop. Never arrive at a message box that can be sent.

To contact TradeMe staff through "Live Chat" once you've selected the Contact us Chat Tab you need to give the landing page a count of 15+ seconds for the Chat Tab to Pop up in blue at the bottom right of your screen, there is a slight delay in this appearing.
The manned hours weekdays are 9:30:am - 5:00pm and weekends 9:30am - 4:pm- Cheers.1 -

There is currently work going on behind the scenes in the Motors Category - Once you select your Listing and go into the view where the pic is chopped off there is actually a hidden Open Gallery Tab - once you select that Hidden Tab your photo's are All Full pics again - YAY! - I would say work will be continuing to restore the chopped pics to Full pics - Hang in there - See pics Below ...

HI Donal. Going forward it would be better to take your photos in landscape view, not portrait. This is the standard way to display pictures on the website and gives a much better result.

I doubt the design is to have these photo's chopped off - this will be something the Tech Team will be working on to restore asap. - The Open Gallery I also see as not Hidden, word chosen due to it being missed when first viewed & reported here - Cheers.

Ok, the important thing to get photos in that category showing as you expect them to, is to have an aspect ratio of 2.03. eg 1624 x 800 or any size as long as the ratio is 2.03 width to height. Example here before and after.
