Extemely Poor Performance on the Home Page
For the past few months I've been having performance issues with the home page fo TradeMe.
Both my desktop (Ryzen 7 3nd Gen) and laptop (Intel i7 12th Gen) are having issues with the home page. It is extemely slow and consistently lags on scrolling through the page, typically taking over 2 minutes to load elements when scrolling. The same slowness affects the left scrolling on elements like "Top Pick For You" and "Recommended in ...". I see no CPU, memory or disk spikes. The issue persists on 2 differenct gig fiber connections with different ISPs and over 4G and 5G cellular. Both Chrome and Firefox have the issue.
Is the new TradeMe layout causing issues? Other pages with the new UI are slow but manageable, however the home page is unacceptably slow. I have no issues when using TradeMe with the old UI.
Any ideas on what's going on or any solutions?

Kia Ora Kodie,
Yes! You are correct - I am on an HP Laptop, Windows 10, MSEdge Browser on the Desktop site and have All the same issues on the TM Home Front page - We are not the only ones - this is a TM system issue - Not user. Thank you for raising this Post - Cheers.

You are not alone. This issue has been happening for over a year without being resolved or acknowledged.

Hi Kodie. Is it the latest version of Chrome that you're using on your desktop and laptop?

Yeah it is. Chrome 114.0.5735.199 (Official Build) (64-bit) and Firefox 115.0.2 (64-bit).

Hi Kodie, I saw your most recent post and have moved this original one back into Community.
It had been archived since there had been no additional comments on it for a week from anyone which suggested the issue had resolved.-3 -
The home page is still slow, and there is nothing that can be done on my end. The only resolution is for the development team to fix it. I'm not sure how this post not getting a response meant the issue was resolved when the last post was providing you with the information you ask for to help resolve the issue.

We are having the exact same issue. So frustrating. Its almost as if they want to loose business.
This has been going on for months.

Don't think anything is going to change.

Yep been happening here too. Using latest FF.
Any update Trade Me team?

This is happening to me as well. It gets infuriating. I’ve started using eBay, so we’ll done TradeMe.

Homepage crunches to a grinding halt randomly. You type a term into the search field and the text stops entering. Lift your hands off the keys and watch the rest of the word you typed materialise in slow motion.
Am I the flash? Or is Trademe built on Flash?

For some reason TradeMe seems to be disinterested in resolving this issue, nor do they care to respond/update us on the issue even though it seems to plague all users (everyone I've spoken too has the same issue). Probably because they have a monopoly on the NZ auction space.

Having the same problem for ages as well. It's worse than the old dial up

Before I found this blog (this morning) I had been in communication with TM and they advise updating my browser and clearing my cache. I did this to humour the support team and as expected no change. Very sad really as it was a great trading platform but for me it is no longer usable as I do not have the time (or patience) to wait minutes for the screen to update. Now that I have read the comments here I am going to stop trying to diagnose potential issues with my laptop realising that it really is, as I suspected, a TM issue. I wish that they had just come out and declared that there is an issue as I have just wasted between 8 and 12 hours trying to diagnose a non existent issue with my system. I guess this is what happens in a monopoly where the only (IMO) other option (Facebook) is just plain dodgy. E-Bay, here I (sadly) come.

Trademe absolutely so ridiculously slow to load - don't bother waiting to look at anything any longer .
May as well delete it!

Homepage is slow. Especially when you try to load the 1$ reserves. Gets completely stuck for several seconds.

I have been using trademe for Years now and it has been (extremly slow) sometimes taking 30 seconds to relist auctions atleast and half the time it comes back with an error message banana 500 and i have to start again. This is extremley annoying and has been happening for months now. Some days when i have to relist 1,000 listings or more it takes me over 1 hour to 2 hours when it used to take me 20 to 30 minutes.

Daniel, save yourself hours by using My products. You can set listings to relist automatically or you can set 1000 going, deactivate so they don't relist automatically, then activate to list in bulk. Minutes rather than hours are needed.

Ok Thanks.Ill try that.Regards,Daniel.
