Can't contact seller after buying through shopping cart
AnsweredI just bought a couple of items from the same seller using shopping cart. After that all I get is a confirmation email from Trademe saying the seller will contact me to arrange pickup, but there's no way for me to contact the seller at all because I'm not given their email. Now it's been 3 days (I bought the items Friday night) and still nothing from the seller. This is pretty annoying. In the past when I choose to pick up I've been able to contact the seller and pick up the item within a day, even during weekends. That's kind of one of the primary advantages of picking up instead of waiting for delivery. Why would Trademe not give me the seller's email??

Kia Ora Nicholas,
If you go to your Won items page your Seller's email address should appear under their Member name - I'm not sure why you haven't received a Purchase Confirmation email from TM - these are still being sent out. - Cheers.

Cheers Nicholas - your Seller may just be waiting to hear from you is all 😊

Yes most likely. But TM really should include seller's contact details in the confirmation email, like they do for normal auctions. It also doesn't help that in the confirmation email you have instruction like this "If you haven't been contacted within seven days, please let us know". That implies for whatever reason I have to passively wait for the seller to contact me, because even if I wait for seven days and got nothing from the seller, the suggestion is not for me to contact the seller directly, but to contact TM. Makes zero sense.

At the top of the shopping cart Purchase Information I get the Seller's Member name and their email underneath before the list of cart items come - this is placed midway down the page after the Payment & delivery details - Cheers.

Okay I know why I "missed" it. I actually wasn't even looking for it, because in the past I've always simply click reply to the confirmation email and I'll get the seller's email in the recipient field because the "reply to" email is set to the seller's email. However, for shopping cart purchase, it's set to "do-not-reply@trademe.co.nz", and when I see that, I simply thought there was no seller's email given at all for some reason.

It's all good Nicholas,
Yes! the cart catches me out when I get the Return messages 'Undeliverable' because I expect the Seller's email to appear when I hit reply and often don't twig it's the TM email address which appears there Lol. - Cheers.

Yes, it is like this because a buyer can add multiple different items from multiple different sellers within the cart.
Therefore it can't have a reply to set to the sellers email address because there can be more than one seller.
Perhaps if it was clever enough to work out that the seller for that particular cart is all one seller it could work. But eh. I dunno if that is easy to program or not. Might confuse things more for buyers if a reply to for a cart sale sometimes works, and sometimes didn't depending if the cart contains items from different sellers or not.

Okay that makes sense.

Hi there Nicholas
In no way is thread pointless, you had a concern and asked a question, good for you buddy! Everyone here is happy to help.
Some day someone else will have the same problem - 100%, and with a little luck, they will do a search and find this thread, and problem solved.
Good on you Pal.
