Buyer addresses often wrong
I am getting about 3 buyers/ week saying "sorry, TM sent the wrong address, it should be this one". So is it that I have a load of dumb buyers sending old addresses, or is trade now automatically sending addresses automatically and the buyer has not updated their Auto address. Just wondering as this was not an issue until about 6 months ago

I get it too, It is not Trade me, it is the buyers, they need to make sure they have chosen/selected the correct address before confirming their Buy Now or Bid, as they have the opportunity to change address before confirming,
It seems to be the norm these days, instead of taking responsibility of their mistakes it is easier to blame Trade Me,
This is way society is going, no one takes onus of their error's,
I which one such person left bad feedback saying I had attitude, on me which was not true, and Trade Me say freedom of speech, yet they mucked up along the one stuffing me around,
I have clause on my Auctions to make sure address is correct first time, na just gets ignored, sigh!

This happens at least once a week for me. If I happen to see the email before I put the item on the courier, it’s no big deal to enter the new address. However if I’ve already sent the item, I make it the buyer’s problem to sort out. I just send them an email saying sorry, too late but you can go online and arrange for a redirection. So far, no-one has complained via the feedback system.

I am here because I have gone to select my delivery address in two purchases tonight to be alerted that my address has already been sent to the seller as my old default address (admittedly I haven’t changed this as I always select manually my current address). It is definitely a new issue as I’ve never had this happen before, and I purchase quite often. Obviously some sellers are more understanding than others. I have amended my current address but just wanted to point this out, it’s not just buyers being lazy.

If your address has already been sent, you must have used a buy now, so you have obviously not selected the correct address before confirming your buy now,
As by using a Buy Now your address is Automatically sent, no option to send it manually,
when hitting a buy now the next page asks you to select your address before you confirm your buy now or pay via Ping,
It sounds like it is your error an not Trade Me's,

Not true. It was a winning bid, and a fixed price offer. I have also used buy now with no problem selecting my address. No chance to review. I am stating my experience as a user who has had a good routine in the past. Something has changed. But thank you for your thumbs down. Would be good for TM to confirm.

Jessica Do you use BidBud, because it will send your address automatically when you bid, and accept a Fixed Price offer,
after 18 years I have never had a wrong address sent as a buyer,
It usually happens as the user is at fault,
So why have you not changed or deleted your old default address if it is not the right one?, it is your responsibility, to make sure it is correct, if it is not a correct address you are at fault for not updating it, user error,

Carol - no it’s a standard purchase I have done over a hundred times before. As I stated before I have never needed to until now, and I am happy to do it. This is my experience of a buyer twice tonight and these comments are also in the last week - coincidence? Please don’t reply.

Jessica sorry but after many years on here, it is usually buyer at fault,
Sorry but that is the way we see it, as I have brought a lot in last few days and won another tonight,
and I have had no issues, have just sent my address through now for a seller,

I have had 2 buyers just tonight send me wrong address. It is happening most days now wheras in the past it happened once every 3-6 months. Obviously something in the TM system has changed recently to either send incorrect addresses automatically or is not properly prompting buyers to select the correct address. No idea if this is a TM issue, a buyer issue or both. But certainly if TM members all deleted old addresses from TM , it must go someway to helping this situation rectify itself

HI everyone, thanks for commenting.
Jessica, were you using the app or desktop site? On the app, this is usually down to user error however I note that you have used the same process without issue for a while now. We haven't made any changes that would cause this but I suggest you get in touch directly so we can check that we have the right details for you saved in the right place on your account. Did you hear back from the seller about changing the delivery address?

I have had this issue as a buyer and a seller. It appears to happen when you use ping. Trademe auto fills your membership address without you having to tick any boxes - all good if that address is up to date but not great if you wish to 'send to a friend' and don't realise it has been autofilled.

Annie is correct - if I now pay by Ping it auto sends my ‘membership address’ ( which the app will not let me delete ) even though I’ve loaded a updated new address. Ping gives you no option to select a address .

Yes correct, I recently purchased using buy now and paid using ping. Even though I changed the delivery address on next page the item was sent to my membership address. So annoying

Just bought a product, changed the main membership address as well as the address while buying the product, after double checking twice i went ahead with the payment. Once i got the confirmation mail the address mentioned there was an old address. I made sure to double check twice but even after changing it still put out the old address . I have informed the seller to change the address hopefully there is no issue. But definitely seems like some issue with TM or the ping payment method.

I have had the same where I have changed delivery address before confirming and paying by ping. On my personal TM account my registered Trade me address is where I live but I don't have items delivered there as they get stolen so I choose to have them delivered to my work address. So annoying to find wrong address has been sent to seller when paying by ping.

I am here because I searched for this issue to see if others experienced it too. I bought an item via the app using buy now and ping. Trademe sent an old historic address to the seller without giving me the opportunity to see it or select differently. It was not my membership address. My membership address is up to date and verified.
Obviously I've now gone and deleted the historical address that I thought was sitting there in my account harmlessly.
Something has definitely changed in Trademe to make this an issue.
I emailed the seller immediately to correct the mistake made by the trademe app but they did not see my email, did not supply a contact number, and have sent my package to the wrong address.0 -
Just had this same issue tonight making a purchase. i ALWAYS make sure to select the correct address, it had the usual black dot right next to my correct address, thought everything looked good after double checking, clicked buy and my heart stopped seeing the delivery address came up as my old address. this has NEVER happened in all the years i've bought items off TM. what's going on?

Happened to me twice in the last couple of months. It's infuriating.
I asked Trademe to look into it the first time and explain to me how it keeps defaulting to some random address I used over a year ago; not even for a purchase... but a pure parcel pickup booked through Trademe. For one... why override the correctly set default address, permanently, for an ad-hoc parcel booking? Two... the UX is not right. If it had clearly showed me an address I would have changed it. I'm now running in circles chasing a second parcel and getting nowhere with support. They seem oblivious.
Since it was never resolved, it caught me out again. I had asked how I re-set my default shipping address (My Trademe address was correct and I double checked it), but they never replied.
The one thing they have (only now) provided is https://www.trademe.co.nz/MyTradeMe/Delivery/MyDeliveryAddresses.aspx
I really wish they had done that the first time. As it seems to be a place that lists this rogue address. Hopefully now that it's deleted this will end for me.
I still think for everyone's sanity they should fix this UX.1 -

Mark, that page/option for adding, editing, deleting delivery addresses has always been there. I have several addresses depending on where I want parcels sent and change them from time to time when needed.

As a side note I just went back and tried to find a link to the URL above. It's nowhere I can find it. Unpublished as far as I can tell. So how are meant to curate this when it's not even made available?

Gary, it's useless if people don't know about it, and Trademe support doesn't provide it when asked about how to address the issue.

Mark, you go to your My Trademe page, then Account details, then Edit delivery address.
