Winning an auction only to find out the item has damage

Won an auction and just before the closing seller informed that piece had borer! But had an auto bud and didn’t see comment til after closing. How do I get out of paying for this piece?

Gary-NZStocked Community SuperuserEmail the seller and explain that you didn't see the comment until too late to withdraw your bid, and that you will not be buying due to the change mentioning borer. Email the same to Trademe so they know in advance which will help if the seller get's stroppy. A seller comment added after you have placed a bid does not form part of the auction description so anything written there after you have bid means nothing. If it was there before you bid, then it can be part of the listing.
