So frustrating, changing from Buy Now to Run An Auction
Man Trade Me is so frustrating these days, it's bug after bug. I accidentally listed an item as Buy Now. When I go back to edit it to Run an Auction it won't let me, neither on desktop or the app. I guess the only option is to delete the listing and start again, but I'll be stung for withdrawal fees. And when it comes to relisting I suspect I won't be able to edit it to Run an Auction then either. Thanks TM brains.

Kia Ora Rodney,
Listings can be withdrawn for free only within the first hour of the Listing going Live.
You can contact TradeMe staff through "Live Chat" for assistance, If you select the Contact us Link at the very bottom of any TradeMe page the Chat Tab will Pop up in blue at the bottom right of your landing page screen. - Enter in the Chat bot which comes up once opened in a New conversation - Talk to person - and you are taken to entering a few details before arriving at the window to Chat with a Real Person/Staff. - Enter your Listing number in the Chat window enabling staff to pull it up readily.
The Live Chat manned hours weekdays are 8:00am - 5:30pm and weekends 9:30am - 4:pm- Cheers.1 -

Hi Rodney, yes, frustrating problem we were stuck with too. Perhaps you can shorten the run time on your auction to end it sooner?. We found we were unable to relist as you mentioned as it recreated the same problem. We had to create a whole new listing and made sure we saved all our text etc. Good luck :)

Kia ora Rodney, Buy Now only listings can't be changed to auctions and vice versa. If you do want to change to an auction and need to withdraw the listing we can help with that, hop on to live chat and someone will help you out. I'd recommend saving a copy of the original listing so you can just copy and paste into your new listing to save time.

Michelle - what's the reason behind not being able to change them?

I tried to withdraw the auction within the first hour, it said I'd be charged a $3 fee. Pretty sure no where did it say it was free in the first hour. Anyway, I decided to leave it to sort in the weekend but of course someone used the Buy Now last night. The item would have sold for more in an auction. The old site used to work so ok, maybe a few issues but this new one is rubbish. At least I learned a lesson to be careful when selecting Buy Now or Run an Auction.
Thanks for all your help everyone, have a great weekend.

Cheers Rodney,
Sorry to read you got the message of a $3.00 Fee charge for withdrawing a Listing under the first hour - this sounds very much like another Bug which needs sorting!
Withdrawing a Listing clearly states this is free under 1 hour for all Listings & Listing fees charged will be returned to your TradeMe account...
Reference: Withdrawing listings – Help - Trade Me
If you do receive this $3.00 Fee notice under an hour of first Listing coming forward double check this policy is still in place, if so select to withdraw regardless as this Fee, if charged will be refunded as per policy wording.
Sorry this happened to you - All the Best with future Trading.
