Rural Delivery
Hello,
I bought an item from trade me on the weekend, and the seller had the following shipping options:
Auckland 2 - 3 days, standard
North Island 3 - 5 days, standard
South Island 5 - 8 days, economy
I selected north island shipping as i live up North and paid my money. Yesterday (after I enquired about the delivery) they came back to me asking for an extra $40 as I live rural. I haven't paid it as I feel it should be specified in the shipping options if rural deliveries are at extra cost or not available, instead of trying to charge extra money after the full payment has been done. I think, trade me provides a number of tools to enable the seller to calculate to the cost of shipping.
Any thoughts?
Thank you

My thoughts would be that if there was no rural rate mentioned in the listing details or the shipping options, then it shouldn't matter what your address was. However, if it's $40 extra for rural it suggests it's a large item and I would have checked by asking a question first if nothing was mentioned, but, the seller should have something in their listing to say this. If you don't have an alternate non rural address to be able give to the seller and they are adamant you need to pay extra, you might want to decide to cancel the deal if the cost now doesn't add up, and you would be within your rights to do this if the seller doesn't honour what their listing says.

Hi Tania, Trade Me has put your full name on your post. There has been a major problem, over the past few days, when Trade Me put members surnames on Community Post, instead of just their first names. It seems that most members surnames have now been deleted, but your full name is still there, whereas just your first name should be showing.
Refer to my post about the breach.
I have told Trade Me that there is still a breach with your full name showing, and asked Trade Me to fix that, but you may need to contact a Trade Me staff-member yourself, asking them to fix this for you.
The Trade Me office-hours are:
Saturday–Sunday 9:30 am–4:00 pm
Monday–Friday 8:00 am–5:30 pmTo do an online email-chat with a Trade Me staff-member, go to Contact Us, at the very bottom of any of your Trade Me pages, and click on those words. (They may be in small print.). When a blue bubble appears on the right-hand side, and a robot answers, type-in Talk to a person, to get put through to Trade Me.1
