Problem with Auto Bid, it went straight to my maximum
AnsweredI had an issue with an Auto bid on trade me motors and I was wondering if someone could help explain what happened. Last night I placed an auto bid on a 1976 Honda CB 200 setting the maximum at $1750. At the time the highest bid was $1310. The reserve had not been met. I was under the impression that auto bid would keep bidding in incremental amounts up to the value of $1750 as other bids were placed. It did not do this but instead bid $1750 in one bid which I did not want for obvious reasons. In this case the reserve was still not met. What went wrong here?

Hi Richard. There is a very specific order to placing an auto bid and it caught me out once a while ago. If you go to the help page shown below it shows the order in which it should be done on whatever application you are using.

Kia Ora Richard,
Yes! this is normal, as your Highest Auto-bid did not reach Reserve your highest bid is placed. - It would auto-bid as you expect if the Reserve had been met, by one increment at a time.
Refer to Placing a bid – Help - Trade Me FAQ's - Cheers.
